Man charged over alleged child grooming – Lake Macquarie LAC

A man has been charged over alleged child grooming and possession of child abuse material.

About 3.30pm today (Saturday 5 March 2016), detectives from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended a home in Windale and arrested a 38-year-old man.
The man was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with one count of possess child abuse material and two counts of procuring or grooming a child under 16 for unlawful sexual activity.

Police allege the man attempted to groom a 14-year-old girl on a social media site.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 6 March 2016).

Man charged over alleged possession of child abuse material – Albury

A man has been charged over the alleged possession of a large amount of child abuse material in Albury.

About 2pm (Friday 4 March 2016), officers attached to Albury Local Area Command attended a home on Olive Street, Albury, where they spoke with a 56-year-old man.

During a search of the home, police found a laptop that allegedly contained a large amount of child abuse material.

The laptop was seized from the property and is undergoing further examination.

The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with produce, disseminate or possess child abuse material.

He was refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Saturday 5 March 2016).

Two charged over alleged drug supply – Wagga Wagga

Police have charged two men over the alleged supply of cannabis in the Wagga Wagga area, following two separate incidents yesterday.

In December 2015, police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command launched Strike Force Jokic, to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the local area.

Following further investigations, police yesterday (Friday 4 March 2016), executed a warrant at a home on Laurel Road, Lake Albert.

While searching the house, police allegedly located an amount of cannabis, prohibited weapons and property suspected of being proceeds of crime; all of which was seized and will undergo forensic examination.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with supply commercial quantity of prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Saturday 5 March 2016).

In a separate incident, about 8am yesterday (Friday 4 March 2016), police stopped a Holden Rodeo on the Sturt Highway, near Bolton Park.

The driver, a 28-year-old Forbes man, was subjected to a random breath test, which returned a negative result.

He also underwent a random drug test that returned a positive result.

During a subsequent search of his vehicle, police allegedly discovered approximately 1.3kg of cannabis concealed in a bag.

The man was arrested and later charged with supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), and was granted conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 20 April 2016.

Driver arrested for drug driving with three-month-old baby in vehicle – Traffic and Highway Patrol

A woman has been charged for alleged drug-driving and drug possession, while a three-month-old baby was in the vehicle.

About 2am today (Friday 4 March 2016), Traffic and Highway Patrol officers stopped a vehicle on Kooringal Road in Wagga Wagga for random breath and drug tests.

The 24-year-old female driver passed the alcohol breath test. She was then tested for drugs and returned a positive result for methamphetamine.

Officers searched the vehicle and located 5.27 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to amphetamines.

They also saw the three-month-old child in the backseat of the car.

Relatives of the child attended the police station and the child was handed over into their care.

The woman was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police station, where a second drug test returned a positive result for methamphetamines.

She was charged with possess prohibited drug, deemed supply prohibited drug and prohibited from driving for 24 hours.

Bail conditions are still being determined.

Three charged after drug and firearm raids – Wallabadah, Tamworth

Police have arrested and charged three men after an investigation into the supply of methamphetamine and possession of unregistered firearms in Tamworth.

About 9.50am yesterday (Thursday 3 March 2016), police from Oxley Local Area Command executed simultaneous search warrants at addresses on Wallabadah Road, Wallabadah, and Dandaloo Street, Tamworth.

At the Wallabadah address police located 6 unregistered firearms including a sawn-off shotgun and a semi-automatic .32 calibre pistol, as well as assorted ammunition.

Also allegedly found in the home were 140 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), along with an amount of cash. Property suspected of being stolen was also located.

Police arrested three men at Wallabadah address, aged 51, 48 and 38, who were taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The 51-year-old was charged with 16 offences including supply prohibited drug, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and a range of firearm offences.

The 48-year-old man was charged with firearm offences.

The 38-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited drug and firearm offences.

They were all refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 4 March 2016).

At the Dandaloo Street, Tamworth address, police seized an amount of crystal methamphetamine (ice), as well as a small amount of cannabis leaf, shotgun cartridges and a set of nunchuks.

A 51-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were spoken to at the address and inquiries are continuing.

Investigations continue after man slashed with box cutter – Hamilton

Investigations are continuing after a man was injured by a box cutter in Hamilton yesterday.

About 10.15am (Thursday 3 February 2016), a 22-year-old man was at a shared residence in Gordon Avenue when he became involved in an argument with two other men.

One of the men approached the 22-year-old man and allegedly slashed his arms with a box cutter.

The 22-year-old left the house and contacted emergency services.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for non-life threatening lacerations to his upper right and left arms.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the location.

Investigations into the matter are continuing and anyone with information that could assist police is urged to come forward.

Critical incident investigation – Newcastle

A critical incident investigation has been launched following the critical injury of a man at Newcastle Police Station today.

About 6.10pm (Thursday 3 March 2016), a 45-year-old man attended Newcastle Police Station.

While speaking to police, he produced a sharp object and began to injure himself.

The man was Tasered by police and restrained.

He has been taken to John Hunter Hospital for surgery and is now in a stable condition.

A critical incident team from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be overseen by the Professional Standards Command.

No further details are available at this time.

Two arrested over alleged charity fraud – Albury

A man and woman will face court next month after allegedly defrauding a charity, in southern NSW.

It will be alleged that over a period of about two years, a 40-year-old man and 40-year-old woman allegedly conducted fraudulent fundraising activities in the Albury community, raising over $100,000.

In October 2015, detectives from Albury Local Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

As a result of their inquiries, last Friday (26 February 2016), a 40-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for fraud.

The pair will face Albury Local Court on 5 April 2016.

Police seek man on arrest warrant – Cootamundra

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man wanted by virtue of arrest warrant in the Young area.

Jamie Light, aged 40, also known as Michael Walsh, is wanted in relation to five outstanding arrest warrants for fraud offences.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, between 190-195cm tall, brown eyes, brown hair, beard and a moustache.

He is known to frequent Young, Cootamundra, Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Goulburn and Shellharbour areas.
