TINA ARENA RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA ON THE RESET TOUR

Australian pop icon Tina Arena is set to return to our shores this August to embark on a national tour following the overwhelming success of her latest album, her first original English language release in 12 years, Reset

Tina Arena is a name that is synonymous with Australian music and pop culture. Her voice has resonated throughout generations from her early days on Young Talent Time, to her coming of age debut album Strong as Steel, through to her incredible international success with sophomore album, ten times platinum Don’t Ask and follow up multi-platinum In Deep, and then again with 2001’s Just Me.

Tina’s career boasts an incredible playbook of anthemic hits that have penetrated the Australian musical landscape and earned her both critical and commercial acclaim both at home and abroad. Hits like platinum selling I Need Your Body, Chains, Heaven Help My Heart, Sorrento Moon, Burn, Now I Can Dance and Symphony Of Life have established Tina as Australia’s premier songstress having recently been voted the greatest Australian female singer of all time by her Australian musical peers.

Then there’s her extraordinary parallel pop career in her adopted home of France, where she’s sold over 4 million records and received that country’s highest cultural honour, a Knighthood of the Order of National Merit – a first for any Australian artist.

Tina was also the first woman to win the ARIA Award for “Album of the Year”, and was bestowed the honour of opening the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 and she has won several World Music Awards – there’s also been her critically acclaimed stints as a music theatre star on the West End in London. And, more recently, her double platinum Songs of Love & Loss tribute albums and national symphonic tours. Away from music, in 2005, Tina became a mother to son Gabriel.

2013 marked Tina’s triumphant return to the Australian charts with Reset being one of the highest selling Australian albums of year spending 3 months in the ARIA top 20, and earning a spot in News Limited’s ‘Top 20 Albums of the Year’ list reconfirming Tina’s unmistakeable ability to connect with Australian audiences. Described by News Limited’s Cameron Adams as “… classy electro-pop … modern but timeless …”, ABC radio called it “a landmark album – extraordinary” and the Sydney Morning Herald said “stylish and adult – all class

You Set Fire to My Life, Reset All and Only Lonely are 3 songs from the album that have already charted and there are more to come.

Reset is Tina as we’ve not heard her before but at the same time doing what she does best.

2013 was also the year Tina had 7 albums and 10 singles simultaneously charting on iTunes after a high profile TV interview. She also released her anticipated biography “Now I Can Dance” last October and it’s already in its 4th reprint.

With this latest album as the catalyst, Tina is embarking on the national Reset Tour this August and in keeping with the theme, Tina has created an exciting new show where she will bring to life the album and thrill audiences with hits from her entire career as they’ve never been seen before.

World-renowned director Bruce Ramus, who has designed and directed countless international live shows and events including U2, R.E.M., Björk and David Bowie as well as some of television’s biggest events – Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, MTV Awards and Super Bowl Halftime Shows – has also jumped on-board as Tina’s co-creative director, and the results of this partnership are destined to be magical.

Tina today said “I’m really excited that Australian audiences will be the first in the world to experience songs from Reset in a live environment. I’m so happy this album has connected with so many people and these songs are going to really come to life in this show.”

Don’t miss your chance to see Tina Arena light up the room on the Reset Tour when tickets go on sale from 2.00pm local time, Thursday March 20, 2014.  The Reset album is available now through EMI Music Australia.

Carl Cox Celebrates 10 Years of his legendary Carl Cox & Friends Arena at Ultra Music Festival in Miami March 28/29.

Carl Cox, one of dance music’s most iconic and beloved superstars, is about to make a little bit of history when he celebrates the 10th year of his wildly successful Carl Cox & Friends arena at Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

Forever a champion of techno and known as the people’s DJ, Carl has always been an innovative artist that never jumped on bandwagons or broke bread with the status-quo. His magic lies in his sincere and absolute joy for what he does; a love and energy that resonates like electricity every time he performs. Carl’s infectious laugh and famous gap-toothed smile have been welcoming fans into his house from the start, but it’s what he does when they’re inside that keeps ‘em coming back for more. And that friends, is why Cox is King.

Carl is a doer. A perfectionist. A person that has never uttered the phrase “Someone should,…”  That’s because if it needs doing, he’s on it with everything he’s got. Carl began to sense a gaping hole on the festival circuit between what fans wanted and what they were getting. He made a fortuitous decision to correct this rift and to devote himself to providing an experience that people would never forget. The result, of course, was Carl Cox & Friends.

Carl wanted to create a festival within a festival, a place where people could experience music on a deeper level by artists who understand how to take their audience on a real musical journey.  An antithesis of the formulaic one hour sets that litter mainstages by so-called ‘superstar DJs.’

The arena has grown quite organically for ten years now.  As people began to experience it the legend of the arena magnified and it began to take on a life of its own. Carl Cox & Friends has a real energy swirling about it and people are completely invested in the musical experience.

Think of CC&F as immersion therapy for your soul.

The arena is a crowing jewel of Ultra, showcasing music and artists that would not be heard otherwise. Production wise, it’s in a league all it’s own. Truly an epic feat of engineering, the arena balances both art and technology within a sonic playground perfected for all your senses. No detail is left to chance and no expense is spared. And yes, Carl himself curates the line-up on each and every day. Once the festival’s gates open, it’s a mad dash to get a prime location  because once the arena swells to capacity, you will not find a way in!  People understand that the night is a story and they want to hear the beginning, middle and end. That’s the power of Carl Cox & Friends.

Carl was recently asked ‘to what did he attribute his success’ and, without hesitation, remarked;

Every day I want to know what the next record sounds like, where the next artist is coming from. I want to still excite myself by listening to music. I want to play those records and share them with people. I enjoy it; my office is behind the DJ booth. … Without all the sparkles and lights around it, at the end of the day, it’s just me and the music.”

With the 10 Year Anniversary happening in only a few weeks, Carl will realize a momentous career achievement with 300,000 of his closest friends on hand -and perhaps millions more- watching from home via Ultra’s live broadcast. It’s been ten wonderful years in the making and Carl and team have made this promise the world…

‘You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!’

JOCHEN MILLER READIES BIG-ROOM ANTHEM ‘CUBIC’

Always a staple at festivals and clubs around the world, Jochen Miller has built a solid career of bringing upfront music to the people. With a Hollywood smile that lights up the night, Jochen has embodied club culture and big room sounds like a boss. Always staying ahead of the proverbial curve, he’s a DJ that isn’t going to throw out music at a breakneck pace. Call is oldschool, but Jochen is artist that spends much time crafting his songs, testing them out and tweaking them until they’re just right. And now, Jochen has something that will give Miami a little something to get excited about because ‘Cubic’ has arrived.

Cubic will be released on W&W’s Mainstage imprint, March 10 and truly stands apart as a force of nature- amping up the adrenaline and delivering that big-room triumphant feeling that makes a song an anthem.

It’s certainly a tune that you’re going to hear dropping all over Miami this March, especially by the likes of Hardwell and W&W who’ve given Cubic ‘full support.’ And, with Cubic’s debut on the Buzz Chart at #3 this weekend, it’s shaping up to be one of Jochen’s biggest hits.

If you’re in need of an instant dose of Jochen Miller, you’ll want to hit Beatport for his remix of Fedde le Grand –DI-RECT’s track, ‘Where We Belong’ which was recently released on Flamingo Records.

Out of control sedan lands on Bondi Beach

An elderly man is in hospital after his car ran off the road, along a footpath, through a park and landed on Bondi Beach this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the southern end of Bondi Beach about 1.30pm today (Tuesday 4 February 2014) responding to reports a man was unconscious within the sedan.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the 90-year-old driver at the scene before taking him to St Vincent’s Hospital.

Police have been told the Pulsar sedan was being driven along Lamrock Avenue when it veered across to the western footpath in Campbell Parade and travelled about 20m along the footpath, hitting chairs and tables outside a café.

The vehicle then hit several street signs before crossing Campbell Parade onto the eastern footpath where it then travelled about 60m down an embankment in Bondi Park before continuing through a barrier onto the promenade, then onto the sand.

Yolanda Be Cool present ‘To Be Alone’

Yolanda Be Cool, in conjunction with Sweat It Out! and NYC legends, Nurvous Records, are proud to present ‘To Be Alone’.

Plucked from the acclaimed ‘Ladies and Mentalmen’ LP, this track is the slow burner amidst the dancefloor onslaught. ‘To Be Alone’ oozes class through the shining vocals by the legendary Omar + a very special secret friend.

With remixes coming from Urulu, James Curd, Critical Mess (AKA Audiofly), and a refix from the YBC boys themselves, you haven’t heard the last of ‘To Be Alone’.

Yolanda Be Cool have had a world wide number one, yes, but they also have a growing list of beatport hits, made for the club. They are as comfortable in Morocco, as a guest of the king, performing before 90,000 people, as they are in a Berlin basement performing for 90.

For them, in music and in life, it’s the differences that make the difference, whether it be a 1950’s Italian folk song, juxtaposed with a fruity techno beat (go on, you know the one), or dinner in Monaco one day, Berghain the next, Johnson and Sylvester have had a pretty good couple of years touring the world and based on early feedback on this one, look set to continue filling their passports.
