Teenager critical after hit by car – Warners Bay

Investigations continue after a teenage girl was hit by a car in Warners Bay yesterday.

Just before 5pm (Tuesday 26 April 2016), a 22-year-old woman was driving a Ford Laser west along Hillsborough Road.

At the same time, a 15-year old girl was crossing the road when she was hit by the car.

The teenager was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver was uninjured during the incident.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and commenced investigating the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are urging witnesses to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

Child approach – Wallsend (Newcastle)

Police are conducting an investigation following an alleged child approach in Newcastle last week.

Just before 3pm on Thursday 21 April 2016, a 10-year-old boy was walking on Council Street, Wallsend, when he was approached by a man driving a grey hatchback.

Police have been told the man attempted to speak to the boy, and when the boy refused, the man got out of the vehicle and tried to grab the boy.

The 11-year-old boy ran away and reported the incident to a local business.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command were contacted and have commenced an investigation.

The man has been described as having a slim build, approximately 163cm tall, olive complexion, with brown hair and no teeth. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black jeans.

Police investigate armed robbery – Birmingham Gardens (Newcastle)

Police are investigating after an armed robbery in Newcastle yesterday.

Just before 7am (Sunday 24 April 2016), a male shop assistant was behind the counter at a service station on Sandgate Road, Birmingham Gardens, when unknown man approached.

Police have been told the man, who was armed with a firearm, hit the window of the business fracturing the glass. He then walked over to the front door and kicked it open.

The male shop assistant ran out the side door of the business and contacted police.

It is believed the man took a number of cigarettes packets, before fleeing the scene.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who was last seen wearing a dark hooded jacket, light grey tracksuit pants, blue joggers and blue and white striped bandana.

Pedestrian dies – Cardiff

A woman has died in hospital after she was hit by a car in South Cardiff this morning.

About 12.40am (Saturday 23 April 2016), a 39-year-old man was driving a Mazda 3 sedan south along First Avenue.

At the same time, a 44-year-old woman was crossing the same road when she was hit by the Mazda.

The man stopped and attempted to assist the woman, before emergency services arrived.

The woman was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where she has since died.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses are urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

A woman is in a critical condition after she was hit by a car in South Cardiff this morning.

About 12.40am (Saturday 23 April 2016), a 39-year-old man was driving a Mazda 3 sedan south along First Avenue.

At the same time, a 44-year-old woman was crossing the same road when she was hit by the Mazda.

The man stopped and attempted to assist the woman, before emergency services arrived.

The woman was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The man was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses are urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

Man charged following robbery – Newcastle

Police have charged a man following an alleged robbery in the Hunter Region earlier this month.

About 12.30pm (Sunday 3 April 2016), a man entered a convenience store on Wharf Road, Newcastle. The man allegedly threatened a 23-year-old male worker and demanded money.

A sum of cash was handed to the man and he left the store, running north towards Hunter Street.

Following investigations, police attached to Newcastle Local Area Command arrested a 52-year-old man last week (Friday 15 April 2016) at Woolgoolga.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The man was bailed refused to attend Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 15 June 2016.

Police seek information to locate wanted woman – Newcastle

Police are appealing for information to locate a female wanted by virtue of outstanding warrant.

Rebecca Barlow, 24, is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of her good behaviour bond.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 155 to 160cm tall, medium build, with fair/freckled completion and brown hair.

Ms Barlow is believed to be frequenting the Newcastle, Wallsend and Maryland areas.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who knows of Ms Barlow’s whereabouts to contact Newcastle Police on (02) 4929 0999, Waratah Police on (02) 4926 6599, or Crime Stoppers.

Further charges laid after drug lab dismantled – SF Rupas, Newcastle City LAC

Police have laid further charges against a man, following investigations after an alleged clandestine drug laboratory was dismantled in Cardiff last year.

Strike Force Rupas, comprising of detectives from Newcastle City, Central Hunter and Lake Macquarie, was formed last year to investigate the supply of illicit drugs.

On Friday 11 September 2015, officers from Strike Force Rupas executed a search warrant at home in Cardiff where they allegedly located several firearms and a clandestine drug laboratory.

The firearms and a number of items were seized for forensic examinations.

A 49-year-old Cardiff man was arrested and charged with a number firearm offence at the time.

Today (Thursday 21 April 2016), following investigations, the 49-year-old man was charged at Muswellbrook Police Station with further offences of manufacture prohibited drugs, and possess apparatus for the manufacture of drugs (x3).

He was refused bail, and is due to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on Monday 2 May 2016.

The total number of persons to date charged by officers from Strike Force Rupas is 45, with an excess of 300 drug charges laid.

Appeal for victims of steal from motor vehicle offences in Newcastle – Police Transport Command

Police are appealing for the victims of steal from motor vehicle offences in the vicinity of a university in Newcastle to come forward, after police arrested suspects in relation to the stealing.
On the afternoon of Friday 8 April 2016, police arrested two males at Hamilton Railway Station who were found in possession of a number of suspected stolen items.

It is believed these items were stolen from motor vehicles parked on Ring Road within the university grounds in Newcastle.

The two males were arrested before being taken to Waratah Police Station, where they were questioned and released pending further inquiries.

Two in court over alleged assault, robbery – Tamworth

Two people are due in court charged after an alleged assault and robbery at Tamworth yesterday.

Police from Oxley Local Area Command were called to Bicentennial Park, in Kable Avenue, shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Monday 18 April 2016), responding to reports a person had been assaulted.

They were told a 47-year-old man had been allegedly threatened then robbed in the park by two young men about 5.20pm.

A short time later, two people walking a dog were allegedly threatened by the same two young men. One of the dog owners, a 17-year-old youth, was then allegedly punched in the face.

Police searched the park and arrested a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy.

They were taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The man has been charged with robbery in company, and assault with intent to rob. He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court today.

The youth was charged with robbery in company and was also refused bail, to appear in a children’s court today.
