LEGENDARY SINGER-SONGWRITER BRIAN CADD RELEASES FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN 11 YEARS SUPPORTED BY THE BOOTLEG FAMILY BAND

ARIA Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Brian Cadd makes a triumphant return to the airwaves with his first solo album in over a decade – Bulletproof. This new release harks back to the 1970s pure rock n roll sounds of Brian Cadd and The Bootleg Family Band, and marks 50 proud years of Brian celebrating his award-winning work in the international music business.

Bulletproof is a powerful, rollicking, rock n roll album that will transport listeners back to the live show sounds of Brian Cadd with his famous Bootleg Family Band; from the opening track – and title song – Bulletproof, a reference to Brian Cadd’s 70 years young, through to the foot-stomping final song On The Edge. Whether you are a fan of Brian’s early work with the Groop and Axiom, his acclaimed hits Ginger Man, Let Go, and Little Ray of Sunshine, or his prolific work as a songwriter for the likes of Joe Cocker, The Pointer Sisters and John Farnham to name a few, there is something on this album for everyone.

The album celebrates a collection of previously unreleased songs Brian had stored away, some that he had penned for and were previously recorded by other performers, and songs which were crafted right there in the studio… all sharing one common Bootleg Family Band theme – rock! While Brian says there was no intentional time frame for the release of Bulletproof, but now seemed fitting.

“It turns out that 2016 is my 50th year in the business, and I also turn 70 years young – a good time to release an album called Bulletproof,” he says. “Our [Brian Cadd and The Bootleg Family Band] live shows were always completely over-the-top and full-on so we decided to make that kind of album.”

Bulletproof was produced by Brian, together with gifted engineer Doug Brady, known for his work with John Farnham, Dragon and Jimmy Barnes, at his new Furstock Studios in Melbourne. Having been a teenager during The Bootleg Family Band era, Doug’s age difference provided a younger perspective to the project, and his subsequent success and experience combined to produce a sound which was true to the era, and yet unique and cutting edge. Bulletproof also features an abundance of guest performers like eclectic musician Wilbur Wilde, talented multi-instrumentalist Mike Rudd, legend Dai Pritchard from Rose Tattoo, Mick Skelton of Thirsty Merc fame, and Brian Cadd’s close friend Rick Fenn from 10cc on guitar and slide, just to name a handful of those who joined them in the studio.

Stepping away from his famous ‘pop’ sound, the versatile full band created on this album is exactly the live music feel Brian wanted. Taking songs he had written for other great musicians like Joe Cocker, The Pointer Sisters and Bonnie Tyler, Brian Cadd and The Bootleg Family Band also reinvents these songs with a new and different rock n roll sound.

“Most songwriters have a couple of songs that they’ve written for other artists that they’ve always felt they would have loved to have a go at themselves,” says Brian. “As a solo artist I have always been expected to do ballads and story songs. Deep down where I live, it’s all rock n roll.”

The visually stunning album cover, a painting by Archibald Prize finalist artist Philip Howe, captures the true fiery, passionate intensity with which Brian performs. Having met the talented artist Philip through musician Wilbur Wilde, the two bonded over a bottle or so of red wine. Philip then saw a Brian Cadd performance and was inspired to capture the strength and raw energy of him onstage. When the discussion of cover art came up for this album the painting was the obvious choice to depict the energy and spirit of this recording – it is everything that Bulletproof stands for.

The Bootleg Family Band has always been Brian’s imagined proverbial ‘band in the head’. He was lucky enough to get that sound in the 70s, and now excitingly, gets to have a second crack at it with this new album. As Brian says, Bulletproof is the perfect opportunity and reason to “get the band back together”.

Brian Cadd & The Bootleg Family Band’s Bulletproof album is released through MGM on Friday 11th November 2016. For more information, please visit www.briancadd.com

SHANNON NOLL AND THE WOLFE BROTHERS JOIN FORCES FOR MASSIVE TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL PARTY

Joining forces for a special Tamworth Country Music Festival bash, Shannon Noll will be hitting the stage with The Wolfe Brothers in their Boys will be Boys Australia Day Eve Party. This double header promises to be the party event of the festival and is the perfect lead-in to the Australia Day public holiday!

Shannon Noll is no stranger to regional Australia, a former farmhand from Condobolin in New South Wales, he burst into the Australian consciousness as the first runner-up on talent show Australian Idol in 2003. His rendition of the classic What About Me smashed onto the charts and since his appearance on the television show he has experienced certified platinum sales, #1 hits, five Top 10 albums, and is reputed as the only Australian male artist in national chart history to have achieved 10 consecutive Top 10 singles. He also has 17 platinum and three gold accreditations – an enviable achievement. Shannon has also been nominated for numerous ARIA awards and has taken home the Best Male Artist accolade in the MTV awards three years in succession. Shannon has recently signed with Warner Music and has a new album coming out next March.

The Wolfe Brothers are a force to be reckoned with. They won the hearts of the nation in 2012 when they were voted in second place of Australia’s Got Talent. Their story is a tried and true one of local lads make good, thanks to a hell of a lot of dedication. Their third long player This Crazy Life was released this year to much acclaim and the Tassie boys have recently returned from a four-month tour of the United States. They are easily one of the hardest working bands on the touring circuit today, and if they are not on the road with their own headline shows, they are performing with country legend Lee Kernaghan.

The band’s debut, It’s On was released in 2013 and spawned three Top 10 singles, including their first #1 for The Girl, The Bottle, The Memory. Their equally impressive sophomore album Nothin’ But Trouble – released in 2014 – entered the ARIA Country Charts at #2. With their new release This Crazy Life under their belts, The Wolfe Brothers were also awarded the Group of the Year accolade in the 2016 CMC Awards. Any live show in the company of these guys is a rockin’ one indeed.

For Tom Wolfe, the concert is the epitome of a great musical celebration. “It is an Australia Day Eve party, it doesn’t get much more Australian than Tamworth, Nollsie, and The Wolfe Brothers,” he says. “It will be a big party – it is guaranteed to be a good time.”

The band only forged a friendship with Shannon recently, but it was an effortless one. “We first became friends about 12-months ago,” says Tom. “He came to our farm in Tasmania, we wrote some songs and hung out for a few days. We had a great time, got along really well and realised we have a lot in common. We have wanted to do a show together for a long time so we are both really stoked.”

CMA ANNOUNCES “FOREVER COUNTRY” SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO IN HONOR OF “THE 50TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS”

In celebration of “The 50th Annual CMA Awards,” CMA has created the biggest video in Country Music history. Titled “Forever Country,” the single and accompanying music video features 30 CMA Award-winning acts. This single was produced by CMA Award-winning Board member Shane McAnally and the video was directed by Grammy Award-winning director Joseph Kahn.

The music video is set to an intricate medley of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” All are former CMA Entertainers of the Year.

In another historic move, the single will be unveiled to the public Friday, Sept. 16 (Saturday, Sept 17 in Australia) in a global roadblock across Country radio, premiering on hundreds of radio stations simultaneously at 8:30 AM/ET across the U.S., in addition to premiering in key international markets. But fans will have to wait a few more days to see the full length music video; the video will make its worldwide premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 (Wednesday, Sept 21 in Australia).

For the past week fans have been buzzing across social media platforms trying to guess what the “Forever Country” project might be as the 30 acts featured in the video have been posting mysterious teasers created by CMA tagged with #ForeverCountry and driving fans to the website ForeverCountry50.com to see all of the artist teasers as they are released. Social teasers will continue to roll out this week until CMA announces the full list of participating artists.

“‘Forever Country’ is a moving tribute to Country Music, Country Music fans, and the artists who have built this format into what it is today,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “This music video is the product of the CMA Board of Directors who came together in support of this project as a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards, a statement on the heritage and future of the Country Music industry, and a reflection of this year’s Awards theme — ‘Then. Now. Forever Country.'”

“The 50th Annual CMA Awards” will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 2 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. It will be simulcast in Australia on the Foxtel Country Music Channel.

“The 50th Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer and Paul Miller is the Director. The CMA Awards will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.

INAUGURAL NIMBIN ROOTS FESTIVAL SHOWCASES UP-AND-COMING TALENT 17-18 SEPTEMBER 2016 | NIMBIN, NSW

A CELEBRATION OF AMERICANA, EARLY BLUES, ALT COUNTRY, AUSTRALIANA AND TRADITIONAL MUSIC

Nimbin Roots Festival will make its debut this September, celebrating all facets of the roots genre. Curated by ARIA and Golden Guitar nominee Lou Bradley, the inaugural festival will embrace the independent music scene. Celebrating Americana, early blues, alt country, Australiana and bluegrass music, the festival will feature a huge lineup of up-and-coming Australian talent. Plucked from over 150 applicants, the musicians will perform across four of Nimbin’s most iconic venues — the Bowling Club, the Nimbin Bush Theatre, the Phoenix Rising Café and The Church.

Australian singer-songwriter Lou Bradley is no stranger to festival curation. A very well respected veteran in the Australian music industry, Lou assisted in the coordination of the one-off event, Murwillumbah Country Roots Festival, which welcomed over 2,000 punters and some of the biggest names in Australian country music across four days in the Tweed Shire. A passionate ambassador to promoting local talent, Lou is well-respected for her ongoing support of independent and commercial artists alike. Channeling her energy into a festival that showcases Australian talent was a natural progression.

The ethos behind Nimbin Roots Festival continues to embrace everything Lou is passionate about – it is first and foremost about the music. “As a writer and grassroots musician myself I’m a firm believer in the importance of where music starts and where it comes from,” she says. “That’s what music is, and the Nimbin Roots Fest really represents that.”

The line-up for Nimbin Roots Festival is modest and eclectic, opening its musical arms up to artists in all stages of their careers. “After being around in the industry for so long I really don’t see the difference between a high profile artist and low profile artist,” says Lou. “To me, the art is the same and I can’t fathom the reason why one should have more attention than the other. I see a lot of artists out there who aren’t getting as much commission as they need. The public needs to hear music that’s a little more real.”

A familiar face in Nimbin, Lou says she can’t imagine a more perfect town to host the festival. “Nimbin has a very colourful culture, but it also has a strong foundation in natural living and a roots lifestyle,” she says. “It fits perfectly with the festival and it wouldn’t hurt to give it (Nimbin) a little more grounding. The venues involved and the people who are aware of the forthcoming festival are really excited about it.”

The two day Nimbin Roots Festival is setting aside the normal parameters of a festival and is instead drawing the entire town into its planning. Instead of basing itself in one venue with multiple stages, the event actually features four of the town’s most iconic venues – and everything in between. While punters can attend each venue to discover new music, there is also the opportunity to soak up the Nimbin culture, which is unlike anywhere else in the country. The venues – the Bowling Club, the Nimbin Bush Theatre, the Phoenix Rising Café and The Church – each has a history, presence and uniqueness that perfectly reflect the values and premise of the festival.
