Catherine Britt earns 6 CMAA Nominations for ‘Boneshaker’, creates ARIA history

The 44th Country Music Association of Australia Awards nominees were announced yesterday with Catherine Britt featuring prominently. The ceremony took place at the iconic Sydney Opera House and featured an all-star line-up of Australian talent but no star shone brighter than the Newcastle singer-songwriter who earned nominations in 6 categories including the prestigious Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed release ‘Boneshaker’

In addition to Album of the Year, Catherine is nominated for Female Artist of The Year, Single of The Year (‘Boneshaker’), Video of The Year (along with directors Tribal Apes), APRA AMCOS Song Of The Year and Vocal Collaboration Of The Year for ‘You and Me Against The World’, a duet with legendary songsmith Steve Earle.

“I didn’t expect much going into the Golden Guitar nominations event having had such a tough year and not being able to give this album all of the attention it deserved,” says Catherine. “‘Boneshaker’ could have easily flown under the radar but today really was a wonderful surprise. I was just so taken aback by the support and love from my peers and my wonderful industry that I am so proud to be a part of. Thank you Golden Guitars and thank you to all who voted for my album ‘Boneshaker’, I’m humbled and excited for 2016.”

The CMAA announcement comes 6 weeks after ‘Boneshaker’ was revealed as a contender for Best Country Album at this year’s ARIA Awards. This is the sixth time Catherine has received a nomination in this category and the first time in ARIA history an artist has received a Best Country Album nomination for each of their first 6 album releases.

Released May 1 on Lost Highway (Universal Music) ‘Boneshaker’ is Catherine’s debut release for the prestigious label and continues to receive praise from fans and media alike. Chris Familton (The Music) stated it “stands head and shoulders above much of the soulless country music purporting to represent the genre” while Rhythms proclaimed: “Wow! The title track to Catherine Britt’s new album erupts like a massive Pat Benatar anthem, with layers of production never previously encountered on any of Britt’s releases. It’s gigantic.”

As reported in the media, 2015 has been a tough year for Catherine: weeks after releasing her album ‘Boneshaker’ she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Promotional activities for the album may have been curtailed due to her ongoing treatment but Catherine’s desire to share publicly share her journey has served as an inspiration to many. She continues to win fans on and off stage for her amazing musical talents, perseverance and irrefutable bravery.

Described by media as “one of the most compelling, and interesting, artists at work in Australian music, let alone within country music” Catherine Britt has worked with the likes of Kasey Chambers, Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Sir Elton John, Don McLean, Chris Isaak, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Guy Clark and Keith Urban to name but a few.

THE RED HOT SUMMER TOUR ANNOUNCES ITS BIGGEST LINE UP EVER

As one of the hottest summer festivals on the calendar, the annual RED HOT SUMMER TOUR is once again bringing out an incredible line-up of the best talent in the Australian Music Industry. The 2016 tour features the proverbial who’s who of Oz rock royalty; featuring Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks, The Angels, Mark Seymour & The Undertow and The Badloves. Set to be the largest tour in the festival’s history, audiences can expect a day jam packed with classic hits with dates running throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.

RED HOT SUMMER TOUR promoter Duane McDonald says the 2016 festival will be huge, with 15 shows booked. “We always receive requests from audiences in regional areas to bring the tour through their town,” he says. “This year we have expanded to take the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR to new areas and new venues, which makes it the biggest run we have done for the tour to date. We can’t wait to get out on the road in 2016.”

Jimmy Barnes needs no introduction to Aussie audiences. As a legend both from his time fronting Cold Chisel and his top charting solo career, Barnes has toured the breadth of Australia. He has an enviable back catalogue that makes for incredible live performances with songs like Working Class Man, When Your Love Is Gone and No Second Prize to name a few. It has been a few years since Jimmy Barnes has headlined the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR, so it is no surprise that his return is highly anticipated. The 2016 Red Hot Summer Tour gives rock fans a chance to see Jimmy Barnes at his best and enjoy classic hits which have made him an icon in the Australian music scene.

Noiseworks are Australian rock legends and are well reputed for their incredible live shows. They are adored by music fans and critics alike. The multi-ARIA nominated band features some of the best musicians in the country and have produced a swag of incredible songs, such as Take Me Back, Love Somebody, Touch, Freedom, Miles and Miles and In My Youth to name a few. The band sold in excess of 1.2 million albums with 15 hit singles before calling a break in the early 1990s. They are now back and they are rocking harder than ever and their upcoming performances on the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR are guaranteed to blow the speakers!

When it comes to great Aussie rock, it doesn’t come much better than The Angels. It’s been over four decades since brothers Rick and John Brewster co-founded the iconic band and have penned some of Australia’s most anthemic tracks. The Angels are widely reputed for their killer live shows. Fronted now by Dave Gleeson, The Angels have had a massive couple of years, not only celebrating their 40th anniversary, but also releasing an album of all-new material. With hits like Long Line, Marseille, Be With You, After the Rain, Shadow Boxer and Mr Damage to name a few. Audiences will be in for a treat when The Angels take to the stage.

When it comes to one of the country’s most prolific songwriters, the name Mark Seymour is one of the first to pop to mind. Mark Seymour and the Undertowhave been steadily touring the country promoting their latest release Mayday, demonstrating to audiences why this talented songsmith has endured such longevity in the Australian music scene. With a back catalogue of songs such as Throw Your Arms Around Me, Holy Grail, Football Train, Do You See What I See and When The River Runs Dry, to name a few, any time in the company of Mark and his band is a treat for all music lovers.

The Badloves are an Australian institution. Established in Melbourne in the late 1980s, they have made an indelible imprint on the local scene, from their original compositions to their collaborations. Described as having a ‘neo-hippy, retro’ sound, they have an impressive back catalogue including the likes of Green Limousine, I Remember, Lost and Memphis to name a few. They’ve toured with icons of the Australian and international music scene, and are revered for their live shows. The band called it quits in 2010, only reforming in 2015 for a run of shows, making their inclusion on the 2016 line-up of the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR a very special one indeed.

The RED HOT SUMMER TOUR always sells out well in advance, and year after year it has been proven to be one of the best value for money concert experiences in Australia. Music fans are recommended to get in early to secure their tickets so they don’t miss out on one of the biggest line-ups of Australian music royalty to share the same stage.

The Red Hot Summer Tour Queensland shows – slated for 4th & 5th March 2016 – are due to be announced on 1st November 2015. Stay tuned for updates.

AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC’S NEW SUPERGROUP – ADAM BRAND & THE OUTLAWS – HIT THE ROAD IN 2016 FOR A MASSIVE NATIONAL TOUR

Australian country has a new supergroup – Adam Brand & The Outlaws – and they are heating up the local charts! Fronted by 12 times Golden Guitar winner and multi-ARIA award nominee Adam Brand, The Outlaws features an all-star line-up of some of the most prolific names in the Australian scene – Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr. Adam Brand & The Outlaws is what you get when you join one of the key artists of his generation with four of the finest country musicians to emerge in this country over the past two decades. Now, this incredible supergroup are hitting the road for an intensive national tour, kicking off in January 2016. There is no doubt about it, an evening in the company of these musicians is guaranteed to be a night to remember!

Adam Brand & The Outlaws debuted at the 2015 Gympie Muster to much acclaim, and their debut single Good Year For The Outlaw has already received rave reviews from the local music community. The outfit’s debut self-titled album is due for release in January to coincide with the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the start of The Outlaws’ national tour. The outfit’s forthcoming album is a 14-track music dynamo. Featuring covers of classic rock favourites from the likes of Cold Chisel’s Working Class Man to Queen’s Fat Bottom Girls and Jet’s smash Are You Gonna Be My Girl, the album is all killer, no filler! Recorded in Rancom Street Studios, produced by Adam Brand and engineered and mixed by Ted Howard, the album is set to define a generation!

When it comes to country music stars, Adam Brand is at the top of the tree. He has three times platinum and five times gold albums. He was also the winner of this year’s CMC Oz Artist of the Year. Drew McAlister has a slew of Golden Guitars under his belt for both songwriting and performance credits. Travis Collins is a multi-Golden Guitar nominee, with the longest running #1 Country Airplay track of 2015 for Curves from his #1 ARIA country album Wired. Matt Cornell – a former Baby Animal – has fast earned a reputation for his live shows and was a finalist for the CMC New Artist of the Year in 2015. Mike Carr, best known recently as the creator of two time ARIA-winning comedian Buddy Goode, is a Golden Guitar winning songwriter who has penned many well-known Australian country hits.

For Adam Brand, pulling together The Outlaws was something of a natural progression. “When it came to putting a list together of people that would suit this outlaw band, it didn’t take very long,” he says. “These guys are all great mates, have amazing talent and occasionally cross the line – perfect! Over the years we have all worked together in one form or another. This tour is going to take us from Tassie, across the Nullabor and then all the way to Tropical Queensland. Who better to do a tour of this scale than with your mates?! The whole idea of this band, album and tour is to go out and party hard, and these boys do that best!”

They might be called ‘Outlaws’ but the four incredible musicians involved are all focused on providing the ultimate party soundtrack. With the album coming and a swag of shows guaranteed to embrace this festive atmosphere, Adam Brand & The Outlaws are set to become the stuff of legend. As it is with Outlaws, they don’t stick around… so buckle up and get ready for some sonic fireworks! Adam Brand & The Outlaws have arrived!

When I think about the last few years of my musical life I think about a chance that I got from Adam Brand. Brandy got McAlister Kemp our record deal. I got to play in a duo that released three albums and did amazing things and that all happened because of Adam Brand’s belief. In this new venture I’m completely amazed by the concept and the talented people that I’m going to get to tour with! Mike Carr is one of the best singers I’ve heard ever! …And songwriting…well his credentials speak for themselves, I can’t count how many cuts Mike has had! Matt Cornell, a perfectionist in the best kind of way, Matt’s musical history is an amazing journey and it all comes from pure talent… And he can do more push-ups than me! Travis Collins, I want your voice man, and your fingers ha! A seriously talented dude, plays, sings, writes amazing songs! The Outlaws are about amazing songs and are without doubt anthems, that anybody who has a musical bone in their body will be compelled to party to! The Outlaws are brotherhood, we’ve done a lot of crap gigs to get good at our game, and that’s why this tour is gonna rock! We want nothing more than to please anybody who comes to this show! It’s a privilege to be a part of the outlaws project and I cannot wait to get up on stage front and centre with these amazing guys who have an awesome track record in their own right!! In any business you can’t sell something unless you believe in it, and we all believe in this!! This combination is going to spell ‘PARTY TIME’. – Drew McAlister

Everything about ‘The Outlaws’ is based on mateship, brotherhood and good times. It sounds that way on the album and its sure gonna feel like that on the tour. It should’ve been almost impossible for five different artists each having their own careers, schedules and commitments, to make ‘The Outlaws’ fall into place… but it’s happened because each of us love this music and have a deep respect and admiration of the other four guys we’re in it with. It started with backstage conversations between five separate artists of ‘wouldn’t it be cool’ and ‘imagine if we could’ and escalated quickly piece by piece to a single band, a few jam sessions, then and album and full blown national tour. The Outlaws… yeah, I like the sound of that. I just wanted to play a tour where no-one would tell my guitar was too loud… I suspect this is that tour. – Travis Collins

When Adam Brand first told me about his idea for the Outlaws, he didn’t even get to finish the first sentence, I just jumped in and said “I’m in,” especially once I heard who else was doing it. Mike Carr not only happens to be one of my best mates, he’s someone I admire immensely, he was a big contributor to my current album, we wrote a bunch of songs together. Drew, I had the pleasure of touring with a couple years back, he would have to be one of the best singers on the planet, a great song writer, and one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Travis and I have also spent time on the road, he too has an amazing voice, & certainly knows his way around a fret board, seeing him perform is something he was definitely born to do. For the past six or so years I’ve been a part of Adam’s band, touring all over the place, so we have spent countless hours together, he’s become like a big brother to me, and has helped guide my solo career. So, to say we’ re all good friends is kinda underplaying it, we’re a gang, a band of brothers, we’re Outlaws! – Matt Cornell

I’ve a long association with Adam, Drew and Matt, having written songs with them on their own albums. We’ve been mates forever and to have this opportunity to work side-by-side is a dream come true… and as usual a lot of fun. This is the first time I’ve worked with Travis, I have known him and admired his immense talent for many years and it is very exciting to finally be making music with him, in a purely platonic way of course! We had so much fun making the album, and were completely in awe with each other’s talents. Now it’s ready… it’s time to hit the road and show everyone this very unique combination never before seen in Australian country music – and we can’t wait! – Mike Carr

The outfit’s debut single Good Year For The Outlaw is at radio now. Adam Brand & The Outlaws debut self-titled album is out through ABC Music on 15th January 2016.

UGLY KID JOE TO RELEASE FIRST FULL-LENGTH ALBUM IN NEARLY 20 YEARS

After a 19-year hiatus, raucous rockers UGLY KID JOE are set to return with a new full-length album entitled, Uglier Than They Used Ta Be. Known predominantly in Australia for their massive hits of the early 90’s, which saw ‘Everything About You’ reach #4 on the Australian ARIA Charts, followed by ‘Cats in the Cradle’ soaring to #1 in 1993 with massive amounts of airplay and achieving #8 on the overall chart for that year.

The new album, which was recorded at JT Studios and Balance Studios in Louisiana under the helm of producer and UKJ guitarist Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Godsmack, Evanescence), is scheduled for digital release in Australia on September 18 via UKJ Records.

Whitfield Crane (Vocals) and Klaus Eichstadt (Guitars) teamed up with Sonny Mayo (Guitars), Shannon Larkin (Drums), Zac Morris (Drums), Cordell Crockett (Bass) and Dave Fortman (Guitars) to form the now 7-member line up a.k.a. “Seven Headed Monster” (pictured below) and write and record in the studio. The result is the most cohesive sounding UGLY KID JOE record to date.

The chemistry flows so well throughout this new release, it’s as though they never left. Uglier Than They Used Ta Be boasts a collection of well-crafted rock tunes, from the riff driven ‘Let The Record Play’ to the hard-hitting ‘She’s Already Gone’ and ‘Hell Ain’t Hard To Find’. The album offers a collection of some of the best songs ever written by the band.

“It’s a full circle of sorts,” says Crane. “There was a lot of love and talent in one room and that is exactly what this album sounds like.”

In addition to the nine newly written original songs, the album features a couple of cover songs including Rare Earth’s version of ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’ with Australian chart-topping vocalist Dallas Frasca lending her unmistakable vocals behind Crane, and the Motörhead classic ‘Ace of Spades’ with a very special guest appearance from Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell who lends his signature sound to the timeless track. Campbell also appears on the tracks ‘My Old Man’ and ‘Under The Bottom’.

‘Hell Ain’t Hard to Find’ has already been released on music video and can be viewed via the following link, with UKJ’S latest single, ‘She’s Already Gone’ available to radio on Monday, September 14.

THE WOLFE BROTHERS HIT THE ROAD ON LEE KERNAGHAN’S NATIONAL TOUR – THE SONGS & THE STORIES IN CONCERT

The Wolfe Brothers are a band on a mission. There is no slowing these boys down, which is why this press release requires 3 headlines – and there is a story behind every headline.

On 3rd September the band embark on a 30-date national tour, of which 28 of these shows are with Lee Kernaghan on his The Songs And The Stories In Concert tour. The first show is in Townsville QLD and from there the tour travels through every state ending up in Newcastle on the 14th November. The boys will also be supporting the legendary Cold Chisel at the Deni Ute Muster on Friday 2nd October.

Brodie Rainbird the band’s guitarist says the tour is the perfect way to close out the touring cycle on the band’s second album Nothin’ But Trouble. “Being able to play so many shows to fans all around Australia in such a short time on Lee’s tour is something that we are very excited about,” he says. “Lee has been so good to us and we are eternally grateful for the opportunities he has given us over the last 3 years. We will be playing a selection of songs from both albums on this tour but we will be performing them in a semi-acoustic format, which we are really looking forward to. Then as a bonus we get to play with Lee as he performs songs from his Spirit Of The Anzacs album. We can’t wait.”

To mark the start of the tour The Wolfe Brothers have unveiled their latest single and video from their #2 ARIA Country Album Nothin’ But Trouble; the catchy ONE BEER AT A TIME. Filmed at one of the band’s favourite drinking establishments in their hometown of Hobart TAS, One Beer At A Time is an addictive Friday-night anthem. This is the fourth single from the Nothin’ But Trouble album with the first three all reaching #1 on the Country charts. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

… And now for the third in the band’s “Hat-trick” of announcements today – The Wolfe Brothers announce that their new double disc release is available on pre-sale as of today. This LIVE CD / DVD package will be released in-store on 18th September. Featuring the bands stand-out performance at CMC Rocks QLD 2015, the Live CD/DVD captures the band’s high energy show in full-throttle, and includes all the hit songs from their first two albums plus a classic cover from the legendary 70’s band The Dingoes. Also featured on the DVD are the official videos for all of The Wolfe Brothers’ hit singles so far!

“From day one, playing live has always been at the heart of what The Wolfe Brothers are about,” says Nick Wolfe. “From the early days of playing the pubs, to the big stages like CMC Rocks QLD, we’ve always prided ourselves on having a great live show, and we’re really excited that we’ve been able to have it finally captured on this DVD and CD. We believe that our fans will be able to chuck on the DVD, crank it loud (highly recommended) and feel a part of the energy we strive to put out on stage, all from the comfort of their lounge room!”

The Wolfe Brothers are brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe on vocals, guitar and bass, along with childhood friends Brodie Rainbird on guitar and Casey Kostiuk on drums. They burst onto the music scene in 2012, when they captivated the nation on Australia’s Got Talent and finished second on the program. Since then, they have been signed to ABC Music, they were named CMC’s 2013 Best New Artist, have scored four #1 singles in a row and have toured all over Australia. Their third album will be recorded in Nashville at the end of the year with producer Luke Wooten.

DENI UTE MUSTER The ultimate long weekend destination!

Just when you thought the Deni Ute Muster couldn’t get any bigger or better, organisers are thrilled that New South Wales residents won’t be the only ones getting to enjoy a long weekend thanks to the Victorian Government announcing that our southern friends will also be getting a day off on Friday, 2 October, making it the getaway destination for all your music, cars and AFL Grand Final needs!

Officially kicking off on Grand Final eve, this year’s world record Deni Ute Muster will be opening the camping grounds from noon Thursday so ticket holders will have an extra night on the Plains and wake up on site ready for the day’s entertainment.

Renowned for its diversity, organisers have outdone themselves this year with musical performances from Cold Chisel (their first show on their One Night Stand tour), Birds of Tokyo, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand, The McClymonts, Sunny Cowgirls, Morgan Evans and many more main stage and Ice Break Day Stage artists raring to take the stage.

Earlier today Cold Chisel announced that their new album, The Perfect Crime, will be released on Friday, 2 October, making our Musterers the very first people in the country to hear the band perform songs from the new album live and we can’t wait!

If an early start and a whole long weekend isn’t possible, Saturday Only tickets will be on sale from 9.00am tomorrow (Friday, 28 August) and it includes Saturday camping, but you’ll want to be sure to be on site early enough to catch the entertainment on the Ice Break Day Stage and the AFL Grand Final on the big screens in the main arena and in the on-site bars. Footy fans are encouraged to bring along their team jersey and their camp chair and join us in the main arena from 1.30pm on Saturday (just after the World Record Blue Singlet Count) to see which team will win the 2015 AFL Premiership Cup.

It’s not all about the music and footy either, this year sees a stellar line up of on-site entertainment including Showtime FMX, Holden Grunt Off, our favourite funny chicks – The Crackup Sisters, wood chopping and whip cracking demonstrations, GME Australian National Circle Work Championships, New Holland Bullride Spectacular, GME Go to Wo, helicopter rides, Holden Barrel Race and the Coates Hire Show N Shine.

If that’s not enough, two new attractions this year include the Yamaha Supertank – a giant fishing tank where you’ll be able to catch your own dinner, and IWA Pro Wrestling – a family-fun, action packed live show of body slamming, bone crunching non-stop sports entertainment.

The little ones will also be taken care of in Carnival Corner and the SunRice Family Centre.

Friday also sees the inaugural Milwaukee Tradie Challenge, proudly sponsored by Milwaukee Tools Australia, where tradies go head to head in the ultimate show of skill, design, innovation and good-old-fashioned Aussie ingenuity by building their own outdoor dunny, live in the main arena.

Kate Pitt, Deni Ute Muster General Manager has said “Our 2015 Muster is actioned packed! We have more around the ground entertainment than ever before, and we’re thrilled that our campers can now spend an extra night on the Plains. 2015 will truly be a Muster not to miss!”

The Deni Ute Muster is on almost every local and international bucket list and with no rise in ticket prices, more music and more fun than you can cram into your average long weekend, our Australian Made event will be one to remember for a lifetime so don’t miss out – get your tickets today!

The Deni Ute Muster is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
