Police have charged a man following investigations into alleged historical child sexual offences in the Quirindi area.
Detectives from Oxley Local Area Command have been investigating allegations several girls were sexually assaulted in the Quirindi area between 1986 and 1992. At the time of the alleged offences, the girls were between two and six years old.
About 10am today (Wednesday 18 March 2015), a 62-year-old man attended Port Macquarie Police Station where he was arrested by detectives.
He was charged with the following offences: One count of sexual assault indecent act with person under 16 years; one count of aggravated sexual assault – victim under 16 years and two counts of aggravated indecent assault – victim under 16 years.
The man was refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 18 March 2015.
Investigators encourage any victim of any indecent or sexual assault, no matter how long ago, to come forward.
