Man charged over firearm and drug offences – Toronto

A man will appear in court next month after allegedly being found in possession of a replica firearm and illicit drugs in Toronto today.

About 12.15pm (Saturday 22 August 2015), officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command stopped and spoke to a man in Donnelly Avenue.

Police searched the man, when they allegedly located a sawn off shotgun and a substance believed to be methylamphetamine.

The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Toronto Police Station. Further checks revealed the firearm was a replica pistol.

The 42-year-old man was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited pistol and possess prohibited drug.

He has been granted conditional bail, to appear at Toronto Local Court on 16 September 2015.

Man charged with seven offences following information provided via Operation Roam – Holbrook

A man will appear in court over seven offences, following investigations by police under Operation Roam, which led to an alleged pursuit near Holbrook earlier this month.

NSW Police Force has joined Crime Stoppers Australia for Operation Roam 2015, to help track down wanted fugitives from across the country.

Police will use Facebook and Twitter to seek information from the community about a number of alleged offenders who may have left their state or territory and are now residing interstate.

During the launch of Operation Roam 2015, a 40-year-old man was one of those circulated as wanted by virtue of an arrest warrant.

Following information gathered, about 1.20pm on Wednesday 5 August 2015, police patrolling the Hume Highway, Woomargama, attempted to stop a Holden Barina, believed to be driven by the 40-year-old man.

Further checks revealed the vehicle was allegedly not registered.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued to a rest area at Four Mile Creek where the driver stopped the vehicle and allegedly attempted to resist police, before he was arrested.

He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle while disqualified,

– Drive recklessly,

– Use unregistered motor vehicle,

– Use uninsured motor vehicle,

– Drive vehicle without correct registration,

– Resist officer in execution of duty, and,

– An outstanding warrant.

The man has been refused bail, to appear at Albury Local Court on 6 September 2015.

Man charged following investigation into break-in – Morisset

A man has been charged following an investigation into the break-in of a home at Morisset earlier this year.

In February 2015, a home on Stockton Street was broken into and a number of items stolen.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged incident since that time.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant of a home on Stockton Street and seized a number of items alleged to be related to the break-in.

Police also seized prohibited drugs.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Charlestown Police Station where he was charged with receiving stolen property; possess prohibited drug; goods suspected of being stolen in/on premises; and possession of equipment for administering prohibited drug (x2).

He was given bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on 16 September 2015.
