Police are investigating the discovery of a homemade firearm and ammunition at a home near Wagga Wagga today.
Shortly after 2pm today (Tuesday 25 August 2015), police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Ashmont.
Attending police spoke initially with a 20-year-old man until the owner of the premises, a 45-year-old man, returned a short time later.
Police located a shortened double barrelled shotgun, a second barrel for another firearm, a trigger mechanism and ammunition.
Also found was a homemade firearm, made from a building tool, while other devices were also located and seized.
Officers who entered the premises also removed a homemade cattle-prod type device which was seized.
The home owner was interviewed in relation to the items that were located and those that appeared to be homemade.
He was released pending further inquiries and forensic examination of the firearms.
