Police charge two with ‘ICE’ supply – Strike Force Weonga

Two men will appear before court later today after being charged by police with supplying a large commercial quantity of methyl amphetamine (ICE) overnight.

During June of this year officers attached to the Central Hunter Local Area Command formed Strike Force Weonga to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Hunter.

Shortly before 12.30am today (Saturday 7 November 2015), officers attached to SF Weonga stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer in Church Street at Ryde.

The 31-year-old male driver and his 29-year-old male passenger were both arrested and the vehicle was searched.

Police will allege that during the search they located more than 500 grams of Methyl Amphetmine (ICE).

Both men were conveyed to Ryde Police Station where they were later charged with supply large commercial quantity of methyl amphetamine. The older man was also charged with possess prohibited drug.

Both were refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

Inquiries by SF Weonga continue and investigators have urged anyone with information about illicit drugs to contact Crime Stoppers.

Special train to Echuca

The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre Inc., will be operating a special all steel air

conditioned train from Seymour to Echuca and return on Saturday 12 December.
The train will leave Seymour at 8.45am and return about 6.30pm, making it perfect for a
pleasant family day out.

The train will traverse the goods only Toolamba to Echuca line and passengers will be able
to have a pleasant and leisurely ride across the flat plains through important regional towns
before arriving at Echuca at about midday.

At Echuca patrons will be able to explore the thriving tourist City, visit the retail shops,
coffee shops, and watch or ride the paddle-steamers or simply stroll through the parks or
explore the nearby heritage and tourist centre before we depart at about 3.45pm.
There will be a licensed Kiosk on the train serving tea and coffee, soft drinks and alcohol.
The train will be last for the year and the trip will be a good way to finish off the year before
heading into the busy Christmas period.
