Police seek information to locate wanted woman – Newcastle

Police are appealing for information to locate a female wanted by virtue of outstanding warrant.

Rebecca Barlow, 24, is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of her good behaviour bond.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 155 to 160cm tall, medium build, with fair/freckled completion and brown hair.

Ms Barlow is believed to be frequenting the Newcastle, Wallsend and Maryland areas.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who knows of Ms Barlow’s whereabouts to contact Newcastle Police on (02) 4929 0999, Waratah Police on (02) 4926 6599, or Crime Stoppers.

Further charges laid after drug lab dismantled – SF Rupas, Newcastle City LAC

Police have laid further charges against a man, following investigations after an alleged clandestine drug laboratory was dismantled in Cardiff last year.

Strike Force Rupas, comprising of detectives from Newcastle City, Central Hunter and Lake Macquarie, was formed last year to investigate the supply of illicit drugs.

On Friday 11 September 2015, officers from Strike Force Rupas executed a search warrant at home in Cardiff where they allegedly located several firearms and a clandestine drug laboratory.

The firearms and a number of items were seized for forensic examinations.

A 49-year-old Cardiff man was arrested and charged with a number firearm offence at the time.

Today (Thursday 21 April 2016), following investigations, the 49-year-old man was charged at Muswellbrook Police Station with further offences of manufacture prohibited drugs, and possess apparatus for the manufacture of drugs (x3).

He was refused bail, and is due to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on Monday 2 May 2016.

The total number of persons to date charged by officers from Strike Force Rupas is 45, with an excess of 300 drug charges laid.

Fatal truck accident – Lankeys Creek (near Holbrook)

Police are investigating following reports of a single vehicle truck accident in the state’s Riverina area this morning.

Shortly after 6am, (Thursday 21 April 2016), emergency services were called to Yenches Road, Lankeys Creek (approx 36km south east of Holbrook) after reports a truck had veered off the road and into surrounding bushland.

A man, believed to be in his late 20’s, was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, but died at the scene.

Officers attached to Albury Local Area Command have established a crime scene and are currently conducting an investigation.

Five charged over alleged drug, weapon offences in Albury – Strike Force Hurford

Police have charged five people over alleged drug and weapon-related offences following a two-month investigation in Albury.

Strike Force Hurford, comprising officers from Albury Local Area Command, was established in February this year to investigate the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in Corowa and surrounding suburbs.

Investigations revealed an unknown person was supplying methylamphetamine (‘ice’), MDMA and cannabis within the local area.

Following inquiries, police executed search warrants at two Corowa properties on Henry Street and Honor Avenue yesterday (Tuesday 19 April 2016).

While searching the properties, police located and seized amounts of ice, MDMA and cannabis, as well as cash, a crossbow and tasers.

All items were seized from the two homes and will undergo further forensic examination.

Five people were arrested during the search warrants and have since been charged.

A 24-year-old man was charged with supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drug.

A 28-year-old woman and 23-year-old man were charged with supply prohibited drug.

A second 23-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited weapon.

They were all refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Wednesday 20 April 2016).

A fifth person, a 25-year-old woman, was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for possessing a prohibited weapon and is due to appear before Albury Local Court on Tuesday 10 May 2016.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.

Appeal for victims of steal from motor vehicle offences in Newcastle – Police Transport Command

Police are appealing for the victims of steal from motor vehicle offences in the vicinity of a university in Newcastle to come forward, after police arrested suspects in relation to the stealing.
On the afternoon of Friday 8 April 2016, police arrested two males at Hamilton Railway Station who were found in possession of a number of suspected stolen items.

It is believed these items were stolen from motor vehicles parked on Ring Road within the university grounds in Newcastle.

The two males were arrested before being taken to Waratah Police Station, where they were questioned and released pending further inquiries.

Driver charged following serious bus crash near Goulburn

 

A man has been charged following investigations into a bus crash that left three people with serious injuries in the Southern Tablelands last year.

Shortly after 10am on Saturday 21 November 2016, a bus carrying 57 passengers rolled onto its side on Sandy Point Road, Windellama, about 50km south-east of Goulburn.

Police from The Hume Local Area Command, Fire & Rescue NSW, Rural Fire Service (RFS), and Ambulance Service of NSW attended the scene.

Two passengers were airlifted to Canberra Hospital, another was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital, and nine passengers were taken by road to Goulburn Base Hospital.

The 64-year-old male driver was treated at the scene and taken to Goulburn Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Specialist investigators from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, assisted by The Hume Detectives, attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

As a result of their inquiries, the driver was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His licence has also been suspended.

He is due to appear in Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday 31 May 2016.

Inquiries are continuing.

Driver charged over fatal crash near Yass

A man has been charged following a fatal crash near Yass yesterday.

Shortly after 8.15am (Monday 18 April 2016), emergency services were called to Lachlan Valley Way at Boorowa, 40km north of Yass, after the driver of a white utility was struck by a piece of equipment falling from another vehicle.

The 23-year-old man driving the utility died at the scene. A 34-year-old woman who was a passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Both are from Boorowa.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Boorowa Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

The man, from Bankstown, has now been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death/drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death).

The man is due to appear in Yass Local Court on Thursday 12 May 2016.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Two in court over alleged assault, robbery – Tamworth

Two people are due in court charged after an alleged assault and robbery at Tamworth yesterday.

Police from Oxley Local Area Command were called to Bicentennial Park, in Kable Avenue, shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Monday 18 April 2016), responding to reports a person had been assaulted.

They were told a 47-year-old man had been allegedly threatened then robbed in the park by two young men about 5.20pm.

A short time later, two people walking a dog were allegedly threatened by the same two young men. One of the dog owners, a 17-year-old youth, was then allegedly punched in the face.

Police searched the park and arrested a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy.

They were taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The man has been charged with robbery in company, and assault with intent to rob. He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court today.

The youth was charged with robbery in company and was also refused bail, to appear in a children’s court today.

Police believe there may have been an independent witness to the incidents, and are appealing for that person to contact Tamworth Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous if they wish.

Fatal crash – near Yass

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash near Yass this morning.

Shortly after 8.15am (Monday 18 April 2016), emergency services were called to Lachlan Valley Way, Boorowa, 40km north of Yass, after a white utility was struck by debris from another vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the 23-year-old male driver died. The 34-year-old female passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Boorowa Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police from Cootamundra Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Man charged following fatal crash near Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged following a fatal single-vehicle crash at The Rock, near Wagga Wagga, yesterday afternoon.

About 2pm (Sunday 17 April 2016) emergency services were called to Vincents Road, The Rock, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a white Ford sedan was travelling on Vincent Road when the car allegedly lost control, and rolled onto its roof.

The passenger of the car, a 13-year-old boy, died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where he underwent mandatory blood and urine tests.

A crime scene was established and investigated by specialist forensic officers.

The driver was later arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where was charged with negligent driving cause death, aggravated burnout, drive unlicensed, drive unregistered, and drive uninsured.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 18 April 2016).
