Man wanted on warrants – Wagga Wagga

Police from Canobolas and Wagga Wagga Local Area Commands are appealing for information to locate a man wanted by virtue of outstanding warrants.

Kyle Simpson, aged 18, is currently wanted by virtue of outstanding warrants for stealing offences.

He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 170-175cm tall, a thin build and dark hair. He has brown eyes and may have a shaved head.

He is known to frequent the Cowra and Wagga Wagga areas.

Anyone who sees Mr Simpson is urged not to approach him, but instead to contact police immediately via Triple Zero (000).

Police search for prison escapee near Albury

Police are searching for a man who escaped from a Correctional Centre near Albury (Friday 8 April 2016).

Artur Wojik, 45, was last seen at the minimum security correctional centre on Jingellic Road, Mannus, about 130km north of Albury, at 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday 7 April 2016).

At a 7.30am muster today (Friday 8 April 2016), he could not be sighted.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170-175cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his right bicep and was last seen wearing prison greens.

Anyone who sees Artur Wojik is urged not to approach him but contact police immediately on Triple Zero.

Police release CCTV images of man following armed robbery – Newcastle

Police have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries following an armed robbery in Newcastle at the weekend.

About 12.30pm on Sunday 3 April 2016, a man entered a convenience store on Wharf Road, Newcastle.

The man threatened a 23-year-old male worker and demanded money.

A sum of cash was handed to the man and he left the store, running north towards Hunter Street.

No one was injured.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command were called and commenced an investigation.

As part of their inquiries, detectives have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to.

The depicted man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his early to mid 50s, about 175-180cm tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a black t-shirt, cream shorts and a panama hat.

Police investigate suspicious house fire – Wagga Wagga

Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious house fire in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

Just before 9pm (Wednesday 6 April 2016), emergency services were called to Evans Street after reports of a house on fire.

Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze which completely destroyed the house.

Police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command were also in attendance and established a crime scene.

The house was unoccupied at the time and initial inquiries suggest the fire was deliberately lit.

Man charged over alleged drug offences – Lake Macquarie

A man has been charged over alleged drug offences following the execution of a search warrant in Lake Macquarie today.

In November 2015, police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command launched an investigation into the alleged supply of cannabis in the Glendale area.

Following further inquiries, officers from the Special Operations Group executed a search warrant at a home on Neville Street, Glendale, today (Wednesday 6 April 2016).

During a subsequent search of the property officers located and seized cannabis and a number of cannabis plants.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Toronto Police Station, where he was charged with drug supply (over indictable quantity), and cultivate prohibited plant.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Toronto Local Court on Wednesday 20 April 2016.

Police appeal for information to locate wanted female – Newcastle

 

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a woman wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Racquel Leanne Akers, aged 34, is currently wanted by virtue of an outstanding drug court warrant.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, fair complexion, about 160 to 165cm tall, of thin build and her hair may be dyed.

Ms Akers is believed to frequent the Newcastle, Maitland and Cessnock areas.

Anyone who sees Ms Akers or knows her current whereabouts is urged not to approach her, but to contact Newcastle Police on (02) 4929 0999, Waratah Police on (02) 4926 6599 or Crime Stoppers.

Police release CCTV images after ATM damaged – Charlestown

Police are appealing for information after an ATM was damaged at Charlestown last month.

Just after 9pm on Wednesday 16 March 2016, an ATM sustained damage.

As investigations into the matter continue, officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command have released CCTV images of three men and a woman who they believe can assist with inquiries.

The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in her 20s, about 170-180cm tall with a medium/heavy build.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his to mid to late 20s, about 175-185cm tall with a medium build.

Man to face court after allegedly swearing at children in park – Mayfield

A man will face court today following an alleged incident at a Newcastle park yesterday.

Between 6.30pm and 8pm (Tuesday 5 April 2016), police will allege a 36-year-old man started swearing at a number of small children playing in a park at Mayfield.

A number of parents confronted the man who allegedly swore at them as well.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and spoke to the man who allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication.

The man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with use offensive language in a public place and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 6 April 2016).

Police appeal for information following alleged armed robbery near Newcastle

Police are appealing for a witness to come forward after an alleged armed robbery at a service station near Newcastle on the weekend.

About 11.30am on Saturday 2 April 2016, a woman entered a service station on the corner of York Street and Anzac Parade, Teralba, allegedly armed with a knife and demanded money.

The 55-year-old male employee complied and handed over a sum of cash.

The woman fled the scene.

Officers from Lake Macquarie were notified and attended the location, and a short time later, a 42-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Anzac Parade, Teralba.

Police believe when the woman fled the scene, she was approached by two males.

It will be alleged the woman produced a knife and threatened the men.

Police would like to speak to a man who might be able to assist with ongoing inquiries. The man is described as being aged in his 30-40s, with a black bushy beard, dark hair and was last seen driving a white four wheel drive.
