Police are appealing for information following an alleged stabbing south of Newcastle last night.
About 7.30pm (Friday 1 April 2016), officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were called to a property on Tahlee Avenue, Windale, after reports of an assault.
Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted at the home.
Police have been told the pair attended the home earlier that evening to visit a friend.
While inside the property they were approached by two men, not known to them, who allegedly punched the woman in the face and stabbed the man.
The armed men fled the location prior to police arrival.
The woman sustained facial injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics but did not require further medical attention.
The injured man was also treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and has since been taken to John Hunter Hospital. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
A crime scene was established at the home, which was examined by detectives and forensic specialists.
Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident and would now like to speak to two men who may be able to assist in the investigation.
The first man is described as being about 20-30 years of age with a skinny build and was last seen wearing camouflage cargo pants and a t-shirt. The second man is described as being about 20-30-years of age and was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper and pants.
Anyone who knows the identity of either man, or has any information that could assist police, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen two men leaving the Tahlee Avenue home between 7-7.30pm.
