A man has been charged following a police pursuit near Lake Macquarie last night (Thursday 8 January 2015).
About 8.30pm police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attempted to stop a white Toyota Hilux on Anzac Parade, Teralba, that was seen allegedly driving erratically.
The driver, a 34-year-old Tighes Hill man, allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was commenced.
The vehicle was pursued into Creek Reserve Road, Boolaroo, a dead-end street, where it stopped and the driver was arrested after allegedly resisting.
During a search of the vehicle police found and seized a number of items allegedly stolen from a store in Glendale earlier in the evening as well as cannabis.
Further enquiries revealed the driver to be disqualified from driving until 2029.
The driver was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit not stop drive recklessly (Skye’s Law), drive whilst disqualified, possess prohibited drug, shoplifting, and resist arrest.
He was bail refused and will appear at Toronto Local Court today.
