A man has been charged after officers from New England Local Area Command raided a home in Armidale yesterday, seizing electronic goods, alleged to have been stolen during a recent spate of burglaries.

Around 8am yesterday (Thursday 5 March), detectives, uniformed police, and officers attached to the command’s Target Action Group executed a search warrant on a home in Butler Street.

They allegedly located around two dozen items including laptop computers, mobile phones and electronic tablets.

A 32-year-old Kempsey man was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was charged with break, enter and steal (x2), armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence, steal from person, and goods in custody.

He has been refused bail, to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Friday 6 March 2015).

His arrest is the latest in a police crackdown on burglary offences in the New England district.

New England Local Area Command Crime Manager, Ann Joy, continues to urge anyone with information about break-ins to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
