Police have charged a man who was detected travelling at more than 200km/h in the state’s south last night.
About 6.20pm yesterday (Sunday 26 April 2015), police will allege they observed a Victorian-registered black Holden Commodore travelling south along the Hume Highway at Jugiong, well in excess of the sign posted speed limit.
Highway Patrol officers checked the vehicle’s speed, where it was detected travelling at 159km/h.
Police followed the Holden Commodore as it continued south on the Hume Highway and detected it travelling at speeds up to 215km/h in a 110km/h sign posted area.
The vehicle was eventually stopped and the male driver was spoken to.
The 31-year-old Victorian man was issued with field court attendance notices for exceed speed by more than 45km/h, drive speed dangerous and drive while disqualified and will appear at court at a later date.
