Police have charged two people after they allegedly assaulted and kidnapped a man in Mayfield West.
About 12.10pm yesterday (Saturday 30 May 2015), a 35-year-old man went to the home of a 27-year-old man and 30-year-old woman in Miller Street. While at the home the older man was verbally and physically assaulted by the pair before allegedly being stabbed by the younger man on a number of occasions.
It is alleged, the attack continued and the 35-year-old man was threatened at knife point, hit over the head with a replica firearm and tied up.
He managed to escape and ran to a nearby service station where emergency services were called.
The man was treated by Ambulance Paramedics at the scene. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition with significant head and facial injuries. He also suffered a number of stab wounds to his arm.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 27-year-old man and 30-year-old woman at the home a short time later.
They were taken to Waratah Police Station where they were charged with wound with intent and special aggravated kidnapping.
They were refused bail to appear at Newcastle Bail Court today.
Police investigations are continuing.
