Two men have been charged after they allegedly attempted to conceal a prohibited drug when entering a correctional facility in Goulburn today.
About 10.30am (Sunday 14 June 2015) a 24-year-old man was being processed through the visitor’s area of a correctional centre when he came under notice by a dog handler.
When the man was questioned further he removed a packet that was concealed on his body. When the package was unwrapped it was found to contain a number of balloons, each containing individual packets of a substance believed to be amphetamine.
The man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was questioned further.
As a result, police arrested a second man, aged 34, in the carpark of the correctional centre about 2pm today.
During a search of the man’s vehicle police will allege they located an amount of cash which officer’s suspect was unlawfully obtained.
He was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with knowingly take part in supply, and goods in custody.
The 24-year-old was charged with supply prohibited drug and bring/attempt to bring thing into place of detention without authority.
Both men were refused bail and will appear in Goulburn Local Court tomorrow (Monday 15 June 2015).
