Police are appealing for witnesses after a girl was approached at Bar Beach, Newcastle on
the weekend.

About 10:50am (Saturday 29 August 2015), a four-year-old girl and her mother were walking on the second ramped walkway along the promenade when a man approached the child and committed a lewd act.

The mother observed the man for a short period as he approached other people with children and made contact. She immediately reported the matter to police. Police searched the area and spoke to life guards however they were unable to locate the man.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist to contact Crime Stoppers.

The man was described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in his late 40s or early 50s. He was wearing a white jumper, white shorts, dark joggers and a bright yellow/orange cap.
