Police have arrested a man after he allegedly stole a number of bikes from a train station in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
An ongoing investigation was launched last month after an increase in bike thefts from Bondi Train Station.
About 6.25pm yesterday (Thursday 17 September 2015), police allegedly observed a man cut a security chain and then steal a bicycle from a bike rack at the train station.
The 22-year-old man was arrested a short distance away and taken to Waverly Police Station.
Police subsequently executed a search warrant at a home on Botany Road, Alexandria, where they allegedly located seven bicycles, a replica firearm and ammunition.
The 22-year-old man was charged with stealing and property offences.
He was refused bail and will appear in Waverly Local Court today (Friday 19 September 2015).
Investigations continue.
