Liquor store robbery – Armidale

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a liquor store in Armidale last night.

Just after 7.30pm (Wednesday 23 September 2015), a 30-year-old man was working at a liquor store on Queen Elizabeth Drive when a man armed with a machete and a second man armed with a knife, entered the store.

Police have been told the man armed with the machete approached a counter before demanding money.

He stole cash from the till, when a second man, armed with a knife, took lighters from the same counter.

The armed pair fled the scene in possession of a sum of cash. The employee was uninjured and contacted police.

Officers attached to New England Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

Investigators are currently examining CCTV and wish to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being of Aborignal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged 20 – 25-years-old, wearing a grey hooded jumper, and a red coloured bandanna covering part of his face.

The second man is believed to have been dressed in black and wearing a black balaclava.
