Police and international students will go head-to-head today as they compete in a round-robin Beach Soccer Tournament at Coogee.
The tournament is being hosted by Eastern Beaches Local Area Command on the sand at Coogee Beach between 8.30am and 4pm today (Sunday 27 September 2015).
Major sponsors include Study NSW, Department of Premier & Cabinet, and Randwick City Council, and the event is also supported by Multicultural NSW.
The tournament will see police and international students celebrate multiculturalism in Australia while enjoying the world game.
Students from Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, the Philippines, India, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, who are studying at schools, TAFE colleges, English language colleges, universities and other educational institutions in NSW, will represent their country during the competition.
The tournament will also feature police from Local Area Commands across Sydney, as well as the Hunter and Illawarra, building on relationships with students from their local educational institutions.
The community are welcome to come and join in the fun; the event is free and there will be a number of cultural and police displays, as well as a selection of international food stalls and live entertainment. A major trophy will also be awarded to the country with the loudest and proudest fan base on the day, so everyone is encouraged to come down and support their team.
