Police are investigating an aggravated break in at a home in Armidale this morning.
About 4am (Thursday 1 October 2015), a 78-year-old woman was in her Allingham Street home when she answered a knock at the door.
Police have been told two men armed with a spade and tyre lever pushed past the woman and forced their way in to the home.
Once inside, one of the men approached and threatened the woman’s 80-year-old male partner, while the other demanded money from the woman.
The men took jewellery and cash before leaving the scene.
Officers attached to New England Local Area Command were called and a crime scene was established.
Police would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The first man is described as 175-180cm tall, of medium build, wearing dark clothing with his face covered.
The second man is described as 175-180cm tall, of thin build, wearing dark clothing with his face covered.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
