Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed at a post office in Broadmeadow this afternoon.

About 12.50pm (Thursday 1 October 2010) a man entered a post office on Belford Street armed with a firearm.

He approached the counter and threatened a staff member while demanding cash.

The female employee handed him an amount of cash and he ran from the store.

He has been described as being Asian in appearance, and aged between 20-30 with a tall build.

No one was hurt during the robbery, and police have established a crime scene while investigations continue.
