Three people have been taken to hospital after they were attacked by four dogs at New Lambton this morning.

About 10.30am, (Saturday 17 October 2105), two men and a woman were in Wickham Street, when they were approached by four dogs.

The dogs attacked the group, inflicting serious puncture wounds to the adults hands and arms.

They were taken to John Hunter Hospital and treated for their injuries.

The dogs have been secured and police from Newcastle City Local Area Command have advised local council rangers.

Investigations are continuing.
