A man has been charged after police allegedly discovered an amount of drugs and a firearm in his vehicle that crashed on the Hume Highway in Tarcutta yesterday.
About 8pm (Wednesday 24 February 2016) a Toyota Camry sedan was being driven south on the Hume Highway by a 21-year-old man.
The vehicle collided with a guardrail at the intersection of Keajura Road about 10km south of Tarcutta.
Police were called and located the vehicle and the alleged driver.
It’s alleged that a search of the vehicle revealed 70gms of the drug known as ‘Ice’, about 200gms of cannabis, and a shortened .22 rifle.
The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including drug supply and possession, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm and other firearm related offences, and negligent driving.
He was refused bail and will next appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on 20 April 2016.
