Police have charged two men and are looking for another after an armed robbery in Tamworth last night.
About 9.45pm (Tuesday 15 March 2016), a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were in the car park of a business on Ebsworth Street, Tamworth, when they were chased by three men.
This caused the man to fall over, dropping his backpack. One of the men then picked up the backpack. The man who took the backpack was also armed with a knife at the time.
The victims stopped a passing motorist who stopped to help. The motorist confronted the man who dropped the backpack and threw the knife on a nearby roof, before all three men fled the area.
Police were called and attended, arresting two of the men nearby.
Both men, aged 18 and 21, were taken to Tamworth Police Station where they were both charged with armed robbery and were refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 16 March 2016).
Police from Oxley Local Area Command continue to investigate the incident are seeking witnesses to help locate the third male. There is no description of him available at this stage.
