Police investigate child approach incident – Maitland

Police are investigating after a teenage boy was approached by an unknown man in the state’s Central Hunter region yesterday.

About 1.40pm (Thursday 14 April 2016), a 15-year-old boy was spoken to by an unknown man while in a public toilet at a park near the New England Highway at Maitland.

The teen immediately left the area and informed his mother of the incident. Police were then called to the location.

A patrol of the area was conducted, however the man could not be located.

Investigators would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 40s, with short grey or white hair and a beard. At the time he was wearing a short-sleeved polo shirt and khaki-coloured jeans.
